Week 3: Fun with Photos

I love taking pictures, so I have been looking forward to taking a look at Flickr and other photo sharing software.

I had quite a few problems uploading photos on Flickr via Firefox, so I switched to explorer and it seemed to run fine - not sure why!

It was more convenient uploading photos in Flickr as you could select a whole collection at once - on Picasso, you had to individually select - but both packages allowed multiple upload. I much preferred the editing facilities on flickr, where you could add tags and descriptions of all your uploads immediately and all together. Although I did like the full screen capability on Picasso. I think I will explore both these further on my holidays!

Another site I came across which I also want to look at further is a travel blog called travelpod! http://www.travelpod.com/ As most of the photos I want to share are travel photos, here is another exciting avenue!

Also just added slideshow to blog!

Task 3 & 4 - Blogging

Blogging is not new to me as I have previously set one up in WordPress. This time I decided to set one up in Blogger. They are both fairly similar and relatively user friendly. I like blogs - I have previously used them as a communication tool for a geographically dispersed library team to effectively communicate and share ideas. Although I have used them in a professional capacity, I have not in a personal one. I would not be averse to it, but frankly doubt if I would have the time to actively contribute to it on a regular basis at home.

I blog therefore I am....

To some modern day technophiles, a person may not be whole unless they are a member of Facebook, MySpace, or some other "social" networking site or unless they have some "virtual presence". Perhaps it is my stubborn nature or the fact that I like playing Devil's advocate that I have hitherto resisted the urge of the masses to adopt this technology in my spare time and to air my laundry, dirty or otherwise, to the entire internet world.

I am pleased, however, that through the "23 things" course, I am able to legitimately experiment with these new technologies (which I am admittedly curious about) without feeling that I am compromising on my stubborn refusal to surrender to being a "virtual" rather than an actual person.

Through this blog, you will be subjected to my thoughts and feelings on experiencing the 23 things program. I am really excited about traveling on this journey and I hope you enjoy sharing it with me.
